Primary Concern

Primary Concern Comments:

Upper Red Pine

Snow started after lunch with graupel and thunder, turning to stellars.

Several handpits along the way.  Snowpack still feels hollow.  No
avalanching observed.

Two thin layers of wind deposited snow  within the top 5 inches, both
reactive.  A small collapse on the first ski cut was likely in the 5" deep
layers.  Mild cracking between adjacent ski tracks on that layer.
Two thin facet layers found at about 18 and 24 inches down, producing
clean but stubborn shears. Despite all six of us looking for it, no SH
found above the lakes, probably too high.
Several parties up there skiing the lake shots.  Despite recent uneventful
laps in the bigger lines, everyone was ratcheting back their exposure. Decided to ski several runs down mellow terrain between upper and lower Red
Pine Lakes.  Great creamy and supportable snow.  Low angled skied better
than the steeps.

As I was leaving the bar at 19:00, the snow had picked up again, falling
straight down in Alta.  Tomorrow should be really good.
