Red Flags

Wind Loading
Red Flag Comments:

On my drive home this evening, observed rapid wind loading of northerly slopes in the North Ogden Divide area just before sunset.  So much snow was blowing into lee areas, I'd imagine that natural avalanches are nearly certain in the next few hours.  I'd expect sensitive wind slabs in these areas tomorrow, even if we don't get much snow overnight.

Down on the valley floor, these same winds were forming an odd type of rollerball.  The snow surface was damp (air temp 36 degrees), but the snow was also very light in density.  When the wind gusted, it would start with a small particle of snow and roll it into a rollerball.  Never saw anything like it before.

I also observed these along the road on Trapper's Loop.

A few photos and video link are attached.
