 approximately 1" of new snow, with a fresh layer of Surface hoar on top

 cracking just off ridges, and big collapse while traveling over lake catherine.  Dropped a cornice into Lackawaxen, with only entraining facets

 Found some really big surface hoar in Hidden canyon on the traverse back from lackawaxen.  this crystal was 16mm in length.  

Forecaster note:  Brian contacted me to clarify that this surface hoar was on a west facing slope.  He also noted that he observed surface hoar along the ridge between Hidden Canyon and Lack-a-waxen.
