I dug a pit on the ridge heading up to 10,420 around 9700', near where we dug one on the 7th. Nothing much changed except the depth decreased about 20cm to 50cm. Other than that, mainly different size facets with a couple light crusts that are becoming harder to identify. Column was hard to isolate. More interesting stuff up on ridge between 10,420 and Clayton. Dug a pit just up from the saddle around 10,100. Wind slab here is very stout. I could not get a failure with a small cornice drop. However, during the CT test, once I cut the back of the column, it came right out. Taking more care I was able to achieve CT4, Q1. Slab was 10cm and broke 20cm down in facets just above the main crust layer. I'm sure this would step down once it got going. Total depth was 100cm and noticed the facets on the ground seemed harder than above. Seems that the tensile strength of the slab is holding it together. That is until more of a load is added. Very interesting stuff!
