Snow Characteristics Comments
The saturated snow became too soft by the time I made it to the bottom of Old Logway at around 10:30. At that point I was sinking into the snow shin-deep even with skis on.

Red Flags Comments
From Maple Bench, I observed several recent wet avalanches, cornice falls, and glide cracks. I did not even try to go up into Old Logway because the wet snow was way too soft by the time I got to the rapidly melting debris pile at the bottom of the avalanche path.

Problem #1 Comments
A large cornice overhangs Old Logway extending across the two prominent bowls and the bowl in North Hell Canyon as well. I could see some sizable recent cornice fall activity nearby in one of the Gibson Canyon bowls.

Problem
Wet Snow

Problem #2 Comments
I could see debris piles from a few recent wet avalanches in Bird and Gibson Canyons, and glide cracks have formed on a steep slope low on the sub-ridge between Old Logaway and North Hell Canyons.
Comments
While Cache Valley is starting to green up, there is still plenty of snow in the Wellsville Range above Mendon.
Glide cracks have opened up on a steep, east-facing slope at lower elevations between Old Logway and North Hell Canyons. There is a large cornice on the ridge high above. It's a good idea not to be under either of these, especially during the day's heat.
