Snow Characteristics Comments
Started off with two inches of medium density snow that was bonding well to the old snow surface. Light snowfall between 12:00 and 3:00 produced maybe another inch. Was surprised at how much it improved conditions on southerly aspects making for a decent, spongy, dust on crust descent. Minimal wind effect, although PI rates and wind seemed to be on a slight increase during my descent.
Comments
I went out to see if I could catch any rise in danger during the afternoon hours with the approaching storm, but the forecast for LOW danger held solid. Any rise in danger will depend on snow and wind over the next 12-24 hours. I managed to crack out an isolated, shallow, wind slab on a suspect terrain feature above the W Monitor Sneak, but this was far from indicative of any widespread problem. Similar features failed to produce any results and I didn't observe slabby conditions any where else.
Isolated, shallow wind slab above the W Monitor Sneak.
