Comments
We toured up near Powder Park One today under clear skies and light winds. The snow was wet and heavy with a sun-crust on all but the north facing aspects. As the day wore on and the sun beat down we saw a few point-release triggers on steeper slopes. We dug a pit on a South-West facing aspect at 9600 feet in a relatively sheltered area and found a snow-pack height ranging from 190-195 cm. The Valentines Day weak layer was buried roughly 2 feet (60 cm) down from the surface. Our extended column test resulted in an ECT-19 with propagation across the slope - failing on that Valentines day layer.
