Took an afternoon lap up the ridge. Very warm with little wind. Ski pen was 10-15cm.
On a SW aspect at 7,500' at 17:28 the air temp was 5 C and ~0 to -0.5 C down to about 60 cm. Moist snow extended down to about the same depth with several 1 cm crusts that were saturated. A substantially thicker 2-4 cm crust about 60 cm down was still hard and relatively cold.
Somewhat surprising, on a NE aspect, the temperature profiles were essentially the same with very similar layering.
Ski pen on the descent was usually about 10-15 cm and felt a bit like water skiing, but surprisingly descent.
I imagine that tomorrow, the wetting front will continue down into the snowpack and be very difficult to travel.
