There was a ton of wind today moving all the new snow around. Huge drifts formed on ridgelines and the snow was scoured in many other locations. Some of the newly formed cornices had naturally released like the those shown below by Castle rock and Cornice ridge. The cornices that released on cornice ridge released slabs around 60 to 80 feet wide and a foot or two deep.
Some of the new snow sluffed on steep slopes but for the most part was fairly stable.
There was still plenty of evidence of the natural cycle from late last week. The picture below is one of many slides in the Tony area (Rocky Bowl)
