As part of an experiment, we have started a snow plot in Summit Park in an attempt to observe the healing of the weak faceted layers in our snow pack.  Our first pit was on 23Jan. We will be continuing to evaluate this same area over the next several weeks.

Observed changes since last week

* The top crust has settle down a few centimeters.  This appears to be mostly due to the week layer between the top 2 crusts having been compressed with the additional snow weight from the 26Jan storm.

* Our ECT results were could give someone a false sense of confidence.  Last week we had an ECTP2, this week, it was an ECTP22.  Not having a previous test to compare to, it would be easy to have a false sense of security.

* The Propagation Shovel Test results were very similar to last week (PST 12/80 END)

Past 7 days of weather is included below as well as a video of the compression, extended column, and propagation shove test.

Forecaster comments:  Good work boys!  What a bunch of geeks.  I've had similar findings with shear and propagation tests becoming stubborn and settlement evident.  However, for those without as much experience, I think your statement about the weak layer still active is the key.  Keep it up!
