In clouds all day above 7500'.   Poor visibility, pea soup fog, rime, and quite breezy on ridge....

We found nice smooth and fast shallow powder conditions and good riding in lower angle terrain

We triggered a couple nice collapses in upper elevation wind exposed terrain.  One booming on low angled terrain near a ridge top.   I also received an in-person account from a couple sledders of audible collapsing with an obvious and sudden "couple-inch" elevation drop....

Here's a look at the snowpack. You'll notice the new slab laid down since last Wednesday is at least a meter deep and it sits on very weak depth hoar that is elevated a bit more than  a foot off the ground.  Tests showed consistent compression failures within the obvious weak layer....

There was a ton of evidence of natural activity from 1-21-2012 on steep slopes facing most directions at mid-elevations.  Here some pictures of the extensive avalanches....  This one in the area above the Green Gate in the main canyon at around 7400' on a north facing slope was 2 to 3 feet deep, at least 800' wide, and ran around 300 vrt'.
