Uintas are now home to not one, but two surface hoar layers.  Here's a photo of the 021611 Surface Hoar.  This layer is currently buried 16" below the snow surface.  Test results show this layer to be very sensitive, consistent failures @ CTE 3 failing in a sudden planer fashion.  Layer seams to be widespread, we found it in 3 different locations riding out of the Noblets trailhead today.
