We found relatively deep snow in the Castle Rock Area compared to elsewhere. Rather inconsistent turning conditions on upper elevation slopes, with supportable shallowly buried and surface wind crusts and soft recrystallized snow interspersed.  This would throw you since it all looks the same on the surface.  Sometimes you'd sink pretty deeply into facets....

We found generally deeper snow in the Naomi Peak and Castle Rock Areas then we've been seeing elsewhere in the region....  The well seasoned snow surface is somewhat inconsistent due to wind and sun exposure, and we found better, almost powder-like, smooth recrystallized conditions on smooth slopes lower down at mid elevations...
