Snow Characteristics
New Snow Depth:
12"
New Snow Density:
High
Snow Surface Conditions:
Melt-Freeze Crust
Snow Characteristic Comments:
A layer of ice existed about 1/2 thick with different layers in the ice. As I moved away from 9990 toward Powder Park the surface began to collapse as I skinned across it. In several places my pole basket went to the ground 90 to 130 cms. I took several pictures which you can't tell but crystals were growing down from the ice layer. The ice layer covered all aspect with scattered graupel layer. The skiing was slide and turn. When I returned to the resort the wet layer exited below the crust allowing you to break through and catch an edge.
