Route Map: 

Guardsman Pass to Peak 10,420’:  After 13.5 miles, turn left and drive beyond the houses and park near the end of the road at the Guardsman pullout.  Follow the road to the Pass.  Ascend the ridgeline south to gain this excellent summit overlooking Big Cottonwood Canyon and Bonanza Flats.  The road and ridgeline minimize the exposure, but give the ridgeline a wide berth to avoid the cornice line.  Three miles and 1500’ elevation gain brings one to the peak.  Rare avalanches dot the terrain above the last stretch of road before reaching the pass.  Dogs are not allowed in the watershed of BCC.
