Circle Awl:  One of the shorter tours from the Butler Fork trailhead (8 miles up the canyon on the north side of the road) in Big Cottonwood to a mini-summit above one of the avalanche slide paths threatening the road.    One is afforded spectacular views of Kessler Peak to the south, along with other summits and drainages of mid-BCC.  It’s a little over a mile and half tour, gaining 1500’ in the process.  Avalanches sometimes roll down from the Gobbler’s Knob southeast ridge into the steep walled gulley above.  Caution too is advised in the narrow stretch above the Butler Fork trailhead.  Dogs are not allowed in the watershed of BCC.
